History
In 1974-1975, VW Mexico and PaCoMobil, S.A. teamed up to create 50 VW T2 "snail" campers. Designed by Francisco Valenzuela and sold in Mexico, these campers capture the spirit of 1970s adventure and a unique moment in VW history.

Fifty made
48 were sold.
One was sent to a VW showroom in Germany.
One was gifted by the President of Mexico to the Shah of Iran during an official state visit in May 1975.
We believe there are four left.
Adventures across Mexico
Imagine the adventures these PaCoMobil campers must have seen as they rolled across Mexico in the mid-1970s.

PaCo Mobil 005
Our PaCoMobil was bought from a VW dealership in Mexico City on May 16, 1974. We don't know how many people owned it or where it roamed.

Found in Michoacan
The previous owner, Saundra, lovingly restored PaCoMobil 005 from 2018 to 2020. She gave it a fresh light turquoise paint job and revamped the interior, even adding a chandelier for a touch of charm. Originally bought in Mexico and brought to the U.S. by Motoreum, our friend Bryan spotted it on Bring a Trailer in September 2020. Thirty minutes later, it was ours—and that’s when the fun began!
